Scholar Extraordinary

Only  yesterday  I  learnt  of  the  sad demise of Prof. Som   P. Ranchan, a scholar of international repute. Unfortunately , I  never  had a chance to be associated with  him, as  he joined the English  faculty of Himachal University in the seventies  after I  had  left  . Friends who had stayed back   for further studies had  the good  luck to be his students and to  interact with him and were all praise for his  learning and scholar ship .  He was a  teacher,  novelist, poet, critic  rolled into one  and had done commendable work on Walt Whitman, the American poet. As an academician, he  left his mark  home and abroad. Years ago a friend had  given me a book on  Aurotherapy , authored  by  Prof. Ranchan.  I had  a brief    meeting with him in December, 2012  when   an acquaintance  introduced  me to him  and  we had tea together  in  some restaurant. It was  a stimulating experience.  It seems poetry  runs in the blood . Two of his younger brothers namely  Vijay Ranchan and  Arvind  Ranchan are   acclaimed  poets in Hindi and his daughter Rini  has a  published  English  poetry collection  to her credit .

10. giving an extra buck to a shopkeeper is not tolerable bt u dnt mind wastin electricity at home..




11. u dnt believe in flauntin bt evrbdy must see ur new jeans.




12. approachabe ppl n achieveable things dnt interest u,u long for sumthin u cnt hv or u dnt deserve.




13. u say,"i am satisfied with wt i hv,salary increase ho jati to kuchh nai chahye tha".isn't tat indigestible??




14. u feel pleased vn ur frens mk u feel important by tellin u deir probs bt vn too much of importance irritates u n den u feel lk gettin out of it.




15. u dnt stick 2 ur words bt den "being firm mens being egoistic"..

Experiences make you learn all what u have been deprived of.Although an experience may not be counted as one of your achievements,but this is something that teaches you the life's lesson.A person who has always seen the brighter side of life is untouched by the reality and authenticity.One who has never experienced pain will never be able to taste the sweetness of life.
